Biography

Elijah Wood is an American actor, film producer, and DJ, best known for portraying Frodo Baggins in the Lord of the Rings film trilogy (2001–2003).

Making his film debut at age 8 in Back to the Future Part II (1989), Wood went on to achieve recognition in an array of films including Barry Levinson’s Avalon (1990), Forever Young (1992) starring Mel Gibson, The Good Son (1993) with co-star Macauley Culkin, and Ang Lee’s The Ice Storm (1997). Following the success of Lord of the Rings, Wood took on numerous wide-ranging roles including Patrick in Michel Gondry’s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), Kevin in Sin City (2005), and “le garçon” in Paris, je t'aime (2006). Additional eclectic choices include several voice roles, including playing Mumble in the Happy Feet films, Spyro in the video game The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night (2007), the titular character in 9 (2009), Ben in the TV series TRON: Uprising and Jace Rucklin in Star Wars Resistance.

His penchant for horror films has led him to produce several features including A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (2014), The Boy (2015) and Mandy (2018). Wood also starred in two recent television series including Wilbur and Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency.

More recently, he portrayed Walter in hit series Yellowjackets alongside Juliet Lewis, Chritina Ricci, Sophie Nélisse, to name a few. His latest film Bookworm was just featured at Fantasia Film Festival 2024. It features Nell Fisher (Stanger Things) and Michael Smiley. The film was shot in his old stomping grounds in New-Zealand and was directed by Ant Timpson.
