Biography

Alexander Ludwig is a multi-talented Canadian performer best known for his iconic role as Bjorn Ironside, the King of Kattegat, on the History Channel’s epic series Vikings.

Ludwig started acting at the age of nine, starting with commercial work. His first films include Air Bud: World Pup (2000), The Sandlot: Heading Home (2007), The Seeker: The Dark is Rising (2007), alongside Ian McShane and Christopher Eccleston, and Race to Witch Mountain (2009), opposite Dwayne Johnson and Carla Cugino. At age 19, he took on the role of Cato, the District 2 competitor and main antagonist in The Hunger Games (2012), in which his character has an epic final round against Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson).

His other feature films include Grown Ups 2 (2013), the action horror thriller Final Girl (2015) with Abigail Breslin and Wes Bentley and the comedy slasher film with a similar name, The Final Girls (2015) starring Taissa Farmiga and Malin Akerman. In recent years, he was cast in high profile projects, including Bad Boys for Life (2020) in the role of tech expert Dorn, which he is set to reprise in Bad Boys: Ride or Die (2024) later this year. In 2023, Ludwig appeared in Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant, which starred Jake Gyllenhaal.

Most recently, Ludwig starred in the TV series Heels about two brothers and rivals, Jack (Stephen Amell) and Ace Spade (Ludwig), who war over their late father’s legacy.

Ludwig is a gifted musician who released his debut full-length country album in 2022, which followed his debut single ‘Let Me Be Your Whiskey,’ in 2021.
