"I am sorry to say I cannot come to your great city. The doctor said I fractured my back and cannot travel. What a crummy deal. I wanted to meet all you super Batfans. There will be another time I'm sure. Have a great time at your show! (Look out for the Riddler. I hear he'll be lurking.)” – Adam West
We wish Mr. West an easy and speedy recovery.
The Batman-theme has gotten even bigger for Ottawa Comiccon as Julie Newmar, the first actress to play comic book bad girl Catwoman in the 1960s Batman TV series, joins previously announced dynamic duo Adam West and Burt Ward. But it doesn’t end there: a replica of the the 1966 TV Batmobile will be on display in the OCC Exhibit Area, ready for fans to ogle, pose with, or simply to enjoy a trip down memory lane with one of the best looking fantasy vehicles of the last 50 years.
In addition, making his first Candian convention appearance is Manu Bennett, best known as Crixus on Spartacus, Azog the Defiler in The Hobbit trilogy, and Slade Wilson (aka DC Comics’ Deathstroke) on the CW series Arrow.
All this plus, more comic book creators, including Ben Templesmith and Steve Niles (30 Days of Night), Canadian celeb Liana K as co-host to The Masquerade, plus many events and activities planned throughout the weekend, including panels, workshops, concerts, screenings, comedy shows and more!
