OTTAWA COMICCON RISES

Ottawa (Ontario) June 8, 2022 – After two years under villainous viral siege, Ottawa is ready to welcome back its brave fantasy heroes.  Postponed since 2020, Ottawa Comiccon will return to the nation’s capital in full force September 9 to 11, 2022. Hordes of fiction fans from all over the country and beyond will assemble like The Avengers at the EY Center to celebrate their passion for comic books, sci-fi, horror, anime, video games, and the world of entertainment.

Over the course of three days, fans will meet their favorite fantasy fiction artists and film and TV personalities, pose for pictures, acquire original art or simply say hello to their heroes.  The event will be packed with diverse activities, including celebrity autograph, photo op sessions, and more than 50 panels and workshops ranging from 300 to 1500 attendees. Conferences will cover every fantastic subject imaginable, from comics to costuming, gaming and hit shows.

Fans are encouraged—but certainly not obliged—to come dressed as their favorite characters from comics, manga, anime, games, and films. Imaginative cosplayers will wander the aisles of the EY Center attired in their splendid costumes, delighted to pose graciously for pictures. Members of the costume clubs Capital City Garrison 501st Legion, the Rebel Alliance, and the Doctor Who Society of Canada will parade through the crowd and amaze young and old with their astonishingly accurate outfits.  The cosplay madness will reach a fever pitch on Saturday, September 10, at the Masquerade, an epic costume competition where the fiercest cosplayers in the Great North will face off on stage under the discriminating eye of judges from around the globe and the deafening cheers of more than 2,000 fans.

Launched in the spring of 2012, Ottawa Comiccon is one of the fastest growing paid events in Ontario. The annual gathering attracts thousands of fantasy fiction fans and features a multitude of exhibits and attractions from the universe of comic books, films, TV, anime, toys, collectibles, and pop culture.
