’67 Impala

Supernatural is an American fantasy horror television series starring Jared Padalecki as Sam Winchester and Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester. The series follows the two brothers as they travel in their Impala ’67 to hunt demons, ghosts, monsters, and other supernatural beings in the world.

The 1967 Chevrolet, affectionately dubbed the Metallicar by fans, originally belonged to Dean Winchester’s father, John. It is first seen in the aftermath of Mary’s death, as John sits with his sons on the hood of the car while his house burns. John later gave the car to Dean, although the exact date of this is unknown. In a strange twist of fate, it is actually Dean who convinces John to buy the car, instead of a VW van, when he travels back in time to 1973. The Impala was built in Janesville, Wisconsin, on April 24, 1967.

This reproduction of Dean’s car is a 1967 Chevrolet Impala 4-Door Hardtop which was built at the Oshawa Ontario GM plant on May 3rd 1967. The car was (and still is) fitted with the original 283 Cubic Inch V8 and a Power glide Automatic Transmission and was originally painted teal with a matching interior. It was transported to Winnipeg, Manitoba and was sold a few days later by its first owner who continued to own it until his death in 2005. The next owner bought the car from the previous owners estate in which he kept it in his garage with the intent of restoring it but never gotten around to it. It was then sold to the current owner, Eric Simpson, who had it transported to Ottawa, Ontario. Restoration began in November of 2013 by “Bears Collision” in Ottawa who worked on the body while the owner worked on restoring the interior and engine. While working on the disassembling the car, the shop found the original factory construction order which has since been laminated. The exterior was re-painted black and the interior was re-dyed tan with black seats and black seatbelts. Cragar Rims added bumper guards to the front and back.
