Biography
Maissa Houri (she/her) is an Arab-Canadian award-winning independent filmmaker and actor based out of Ottawa, Canada, who attended Montreal’s Vanier College Theatre and Film Program. She is passionate about telling stories from the perspective of being an Arab-Canadian. Maissa is the Director of Equity Initiatives for the Digi60 Filmmakers’ Festival and prides herself on helping the growth of her local filmmaking community. In a few short years, Maissa released award-winning web series, short films and has been actively producing, directing and is a full member with ACTRA. Currently, Maissa is working on the development of a new comedy series with GAPC Entertainment based on Arab-Canadians. When she’s not on set, you can find her at home reading her smutty romance novels or hanging with her husband and two young daughters (both named after X-Men!).
