Biography

Aaron Ashmore is a Canadian actor known for a myriad of genre television series. Ashmore has been acting since he was a teen, appearing in a variety of made for television films and series like Are You Afraid of the Dark, Emily of New Moon and La Femme Nikita.

In 2004, Ashmore played the recurring role of Troy Vandegraff on the UPN/CW television series Veronica Mars. From there, he landed the role of Jimmy Olsen for the last few seasons of the hit series Smallville. He followed that up with a string of guest starring and recurring roles in XIII: The Series, Lost Girl, and Warehouse 13.

In 2015, he landed the starring role of John Jaqobis on the Canadian space adventure drama series Killjoys that aired on Space, alongside Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp) and Luke Mcfarlane (Brothers and Sisters). Most recently, he’s been keeping quite busy, appearing on three series, including the CBC medical drama, SkyMed and the Netflix teen drama Ginny & Georgia. From 2020 to 2022, he played Duncan Locke, on the hit Netflix fantasy horror drama, Locke and Key.

He has also appeared in several horror films, including The Skulls II (2002), The Thaw (2009), Fear Island (2009), The Shrine (2010), Regression (2015), and The Retreat (2021).

He is the identical twin brother of actor Shawn Ashmore (X-Men, The Ruins, The Rookie).
